Great for antenna installations...
Hi
I used these for a home made bracket (to replace the supplied cross over plate) to mount an 8 element VHF (144 MHz) antenna. The antenna boom comprises 30 mm aluminium alloy and I used the ones suited to 27 mm O/D tube, expecting I'd have to file a mm off the rubber, but they fitted like a glove without the need to modify them. In fact, they almost gripped the pole well enough (to prevent it turning) without the nuts, so it only took a gentle tighten to secure the antenna to the bracket. The mast comprises a section of standard alloy scaffold pole (which I have had chromate gold plated) and obviously, the bigger U bolts are to attach the crossover plate to that pole. All in all, it's looking very nice indeed and though I haven't yet fitted it atop the main mast, I suspect that it will last for many years longer than would the original system (M6 S/S U bolts directly clamping the thin walled 30 mm tube; not only creating a pinch point, but also the risk of galvanic corrosion).
