Poor customer service

Order didn't arrive, apparent failed delivery by royal mail although the house had six of our team working at the front of the house the whole day. No apologies from the company although the manager (Rob) did take the time to make sure i was aware that he wouldn't refund the delivery (we had paid extra for a pre 1300 next day delivery. Very old fashioned poor attitude to customer service.

I am sorry you are unhappy Ian, we do take customer satisfaction very seriously. Unfortunately when you were on the phone to us we were unable to clearly get our message across.
Firstly we did apologise.
Secondly you requested these for TUESDAY AM. Royal Mail tried to deliver but got no access and left a card - I know you refute this, but the main problem is that you did not inform us that they had not arrived until FRIDAY LUNCHTIME. You needed them within a couple of hours so there was clearly nothing we could do. EXCEPT we did tell you they were waiting at your local sorting office for collection and you flatly refused to collect them yourself (Just 1 ½ miles away from you)
The very modern law (Not the outdated Distance Selling regulations that you quoted, but the new Consumer Contracts Regulations) states that when a customer uses an expedited service the selling company only has to refund the standard shipping costs. This is what we were trying to tell you on the phone.
Unfortunately whether a company is old fashioned or not they cannot solve problems they are unaware of.
